MOUNT PLEASANT< SC - The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department is proud to announce a new addition to its holiday programs and shows – the Mount Pleasant Christmas Spectacular, produced by Sprinkles Entertainment. This holiday music revue will be a collection of songs, dances and acting scenes performed by a cast of 50 +, with three showings at the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department’s G.M. Darby Building.

Promising to be a delightful performance for audiences both young and old, the Mount Pleasant Christmas Spectacular will celebrate the magic and beauty of “the most wonderful time of the year.” The revue will feature show-stopping production numbers, beautiful and heart-felt choral selections, a special performance from Santa and live musicians. The show will follow the holiday theme, featuring a collection of holiday favorites. The new Mount Pleasant Children’s Chorus will perform along with 50+ students from the Broadway Dance Academy & Performing Arts Studios of Mount Pleasant, as well as several local adult vocalists.

The Mount Pleasant Christmas Spectacular will have three showings at the G.M. Darby Building in December. Evening performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 19 and on Saturday, December 20, and a matinee showing will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 21. The G.M. Darby Building is located at 302 Pitt Street in the Old Village neighborhood of Mount Pleasant.

Tickets for the show must be purchased in person at any MPRD facility, including the G.M. Darby Building, the R.L. Jones Center or the MPRD Park West facility. Tickets are $18 for adults, $10 for ages 8 and under and $15 for seniors ages 60+. If room permits, tickets will also be sold at the door, but advance ticket purchases are highly recommended.

The show will feature students of the Mount Pleasant-based Broadway Dance Academy and Performing Arts Studios as well as adult performers from throughout the community.

Sprinkles Entertainment is a talent management agency and performing arts school (Broadway Dance Academy and Performing Arts Studios) located in Mount Pleasant and directed by Broadway veterans Mr. Alton Cox and Mr. Kirk Sprinkles. The school offers an array of classes in dance, voice and acting for all ages and experience levels, from beginners to professionals. All classes are taught by accredited instructors with professional performing credits including Broadway, national tours, cruise lines, film and TV.

Students and professionals from Sprinkles Entertainment have performed at various Town of Mount Pleasant events, including the Town of Mount Pleasant Art Fest with Town Centre, the Christmas Light Parade and the Children’s Day Festival.

However, Sprinkles notes that the Mount Pleasant Christmas Spectacular is not a recital, and that audiences of all ages and backgrounds will find it delightfully entertaining.

“This is not just a showcase of our studio,” said Sprinkles. “While the Christmas Spectacular will be a learning tool for many participants, it is a professionally-run show and many of our participants will be experienced performers. It is truly a tradition in the making.”
